True Orthophoto

We show any point on the ground

Back

True Orthphoto (TDOP) is a special type of a classic orthophoto. A TDOP is a rectified and true-to-scale image without object tilt and is obtained from flights with enhanced image coverage (80%/60%).

While orthophotos are rectified with digital elevation models, true orthophotos (TDOP) are calculated using an image-based surface model (bDOM). The bDOM is generated using a semi-global matching algorithm by correlation of the aerial images. It corresponds to a 2.5D point cloud and can be used as a colored point cloud for the derivation of further products.

Based on this bDOM the aerial images are rectified and used to generate the true orthophoto. This enables the minimizing of tilt effects and the occurrence of dead spaces. The TDOP ensures a view of almost every point on the ground.

In order to be able to offer cost-efficient solutions, we work together with the company cloudflight. With this service provider we offer a high-quality and efficient generation of the TDOP product. Together we develop suitable business models and digitalized workflows.
