Consulting projects in Grenada
"Carribbean Climate Resilience and Disaster Vulnerability Reduction"
BSF Swissphoto’s 3D Mapping team has been assisting in two consulting projects within the larger "Caribbean Climate Resilience And Disaster Vulnerability Reduction" project supported by the world bank.
During 2017-2018, an advisory mandate was supervised by BSF Swissphoto’s Stephan Landtwing, leading to the bathymetric and topographic acquisition of LiDAR and imagery data of the island of Grenada.
The tasks carried out for The Ministry of Agriculture & Lands covered the preparation of documents for an international bid for tenders, the evaluation of the offers and the choice of the surveying company. In addition, Stephan assisted the governmental authority during the 8 month acquisition period in tasks such as the quality assurance of the incoming products and their integration with existing data and processes. The project was finalised in June 2018 during a festive ceremony in the presence of the Minister Of Agriculture & Lands, Hon. Yolande Bain-Horsford (News from July 10th 2018).
A second advisory mandate for the evaluation of historical aerial photos started in 2018. Natalia Kudinova from the 3D mapping team leads this project, which started with the compilation of aerial photos dating from the 1940s onward and their accompanying documentation. The main tasks have been the scanning and georeferencing of the photos, followed by the production of derived products such as orthophotos and digital surface models.
