UAV survey for the Zoo Zurich

Before construction of the new Lewa savanna enclosure in Zürich’s zoo could begin, the landscape architects responsible for the project required accurate base data. These were collected using our eBee Plus unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, “drone”) and its integrated aerial camera in April 2017.

273 images were collected from a flying height of 120 m and were then used to create an orthophoto mosaic with a ground sampling distance (resolution) of 3 cm for the 23 ha area. In addition, an accurate 3D surface model was derived using image correlation algorithms.
