Consulting mandate in Sint Maarten

Despite increased travel difficulties, our consulting mandates continue worldwide: our employee Emese is currently working in the Caribbean, more precisely in Sint Maarten.

The project runs on behalf of the National Recovery Program Bureau Sint Maarten. Emeses task is to assist the Governement of Sint Maarten (GoSXM) with reviewing contractor approach and technology at the start of the LiDAR mapping and surveying. A further part of her mission is to provide expert assistance in reviewing contractor QA/QC procedures, equipment and work plan.

With the collection of high resolution, high accuracy airborne topographic LiDAR data as well as aerial images for the southern part of the island (Sint Maarten), the GoSXM pursue many objectives as e.g. the improvement of disaster and climate resilience as well as the use of data for spatial planning, environment and infrastructure projects.

The bathymetric LiDAR flights have started yesterday, the topographic LiDAR data acquisition will follow. Afterwards, the data have to be processed in order to develop high accuracy terrain and bathymetric models for use by GoSXM supporting engineering scale analysis of coastal and hydrological processes throughout the island.
